Christmas Giving Projects
This year, St. Luke’s has chosen two projects to support with your help to share the spirit of the season with those in need.
Brunswick Street Mission - is a United Church Mission partner that provides services to those in need in downtown Halifax including a Food Bank, Breakfast Program, Laundry Program and Outreach services for the unhoused and struggling. Donate financial support or items for the Outreach Program including:
Winter sleeping bags, tarps, tealight candles, gift cards worth $25 for Walmart and Superstore, lighters, backpacks, lip chap, water-proof gloves and mittens, new socks, longjohns, scarves, hats and winter outerwear. Items can be brought to St. Luke’s anytime in December and donation deliveries will be arranged.
Local Youth at Bay View High School - in nearby Tantallon has several teenagers in need who would appreciate gift cards. This age group can fall through the cracks of other support programs. Suggested gift cards to donate include: Canadian Tire, Sobey’s or Superstore, Dollarama, Gas cards, Walmart or any local fast food restaurant cards. Gift card donations should be clearly marked with their dollar value and dropped off at the Christmas Sharing box by Sunday, December 8.
St. Luke’s Outreach has donated stuffing and gravy mixes for St Margaret’s Bay Food Bank to include in 80 Christmas hampers filled with all the ingredients for a festive meal. Hampers are provided to needy families from the area who sign up to receive help with their festive meal preparations.
