New Heat Pumps Installed

Throughout the Church Building

Thanks to the dedication of our Property Ministry volunteers who are continually working to improve and maintain the church building, there are now five heat pumps keeping the church spaces comfy and cozy.

Three units are working in the Sanctuary, one in the Upper Hall and one in the Freedom Renewal Centre all providing both heating and cooling, as required throughout the year.

Lead volunteer, Jim Macdonald, worked with Efficiency NS on the installations which will lower heating costs by reducing the amount of heating oil required for the building. Electrical usage will increase but the latest generation of heat pumps provide heating and cooling much more efficiently than previous units.

When he’s not busy improving the church property, Jim enjoys traveling and helping his daughter in Australia where he cuts lots of grass with the ride-on.

The heat pumps are mini-split systems. Each heat pump has a head on the interior wall of the various rooms which provides the heated or cooled air depending upon the season. Each heat pump has an exterior mounted compressor unit which provides refrigerant liquid or gas depending upon the season.

Thanks to everyone who has assisted with this important property improvement. These investments will bring comfort to all the church spaces, lower fees and reduce carbon footprint, a win for the environment.
